So you have noticed that your PANASONIC laptop is overheating and running slow.
Laptop overheating is always caused by the lack of air circulation through the heatsink.
This can be caused by the following:
- the heatsink is clogged up by dust
- the fan on the CPU or GPU is damaged and has seized up not running at all
- you placed the laptop on a soft surface blocking the air intake
|
1. In the first case the only reason the laptop overheats, is that your laptop has not had a major service. Depending on the laptop and the environment the laptop runs in, it usually starts happening after a year. Click on the image to see a close up what your cooling system looks like after a year of not being serviced.
2. In the second case, for the same reason of the lack of service, the fan simply seizes up as it was not lubricated. The second reason can be, that the fluff built up on the heatsink has been sucked into the fan (or blown into it by a smartass wannabe techician using compressed air) and simply stopped it fromspinning. Click on the picture to see a close up of the problem. The last cause can be that something has been sucked into the fan through the external grate and stopped it fromspinning.A check of the air intake on thebottom of the laptop will reveal a problem. On the picture is a common air intake that a a closer look shows a buid up of dust and hair.
3. Funny enough a laptop being called a laptop, it's never supposed to be used by the laptop sitting on your lap!

The reason is that the intake for the fan is on the bottom of the laptop and when this intake is blocked the air circulation totally stops and the laptop overheats.
