An iMac can have two cases of not starting up:
1. The screen stays black after pushing the start button
2. The screen goes to gray, but a folder icon with a question mark inside pops up.
In the first case, your iMac could have been affected with a power surge that killed the logic board or it could be an internal power supply failure.
If it's a power supply failure, the part can still be replaced, but a logic board failure usually means, it's not worth fixing as the repair is too expensive, but we can still help if you have insurance by writing a insurance report.
In the second case, in 95% of the cases, it is a hard drive (or SSD) failure, which can be easily repaired. If you're running a hard drive, we can actually install an SSD, which would make your iMac as fast a new one from the shop, even if it's 6-8 years old. |
